The fallacy of making money in the markets
I guess the GameStop debacle isn’t as much an attack on the rigged and criminal establishment in finance as much as the exposure of the Zero Sum game that are the sudden riches bestowed on a few and the majority losing their money, or worst their entire holdings with suicidal tendencies to boot.
You probably heard the story of DeepValue suddenly millionaire after putting in 50k or so in the stock. Well the reality is that he became a millionaire by all the assets provided to him by all those who brought in at increasingly higher echelons as the Ponzi process started through crowdsourcing in that famed reddit threat.
No wealth was produced, just redistributed in a game of lottery.
Let. That. Sink. In.
As our so called Civilization enters its Catabolic Capitalism phase i.e Capitalism increasingly becomes preoccupied with psychopathic activities like human trafficking, natural resources depletion and smuggling, weapons trafficking, etc… the stock market and any other market will be mostly focused on becoming a gigantic Zero Sum Game Casino where stories will abound of possible riches (and will demoralize ever further those who work hard for a living struggling to make a few “pesos” per hour) while conveniently ignoring that pesky Gini coefficient i.e the intrinsic inequality of those who make money vs. those who lose it.
On a good day years ago which might have been centuries considering the pandemic and all, a day trader had about a few % of chances of making a living from this most mentally exhausting and stressful hobby.
Now that proportion may have been skewed astronomically further down. As the day traders have been augmented by crowds of idle steroid laden young males kept indoors during the most interesting times.
In the end the stock market shows bestial animalistic irrational greed at its best. Like a pack of piranhas or vultures feeding on their favorite meal. It would be a nice zoological spectacle except this time it is human beings preying and feasting on each other in an orgy of wanton depravation and complete lack of intelligence. As I suspect piranhas would actually behave more intelligently as a group and species towards each other than a pack of humans on a trading floor.
Things will change, and must change, for rationality and reason to dominate. Sadly this may not be a seamless transition considering the mentality of most and their lack of compassion and understanding of the greater picture.
